Black magic, or commonly referred to as dark magic, is a form of sorcery that draws on assumed malevolent powers. This type of magic is invoked when wishing to kill, steal, injure, cause misfortune or destruction, or for personal gain without regard to harmful consequences to others. Mony Singh on his article that he wrote for India Post in 1994 say the black magic is dangerous and can destroy one’s health and wellbeing, it can also kill or make someone commit suicide in extreme cases. In the Malay Culture, black magic is refers to magic that used to bring down others for self – interest. Based on the views of Muslim scholars, the practices of knowledge that is not based on the teachings of Islam can lead to shirk. This means that any form of magic is forbidden.
